Six decades after Tastee first introduced its now-iconic patty to Jamaicans, the beloved homegrown brand is inviting the nation to celebrate its 60th anniversary with an evening of music, entertainment and giveaways at the Tastee 60th Anniversary Concert on Friday, August 28 at Emancipation Park.

The free concert, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., will bring together some of Jamaica’s most recognised musical talent for a celebration of Tastee’s six-decade journey and the generations of Jamaicans who have made the brand part of their everyday lives.

The line-up features Agent Sasco, Richie Stephens, Nadine Sutherland, Alaine, Tony Rebel, Carey Sayles, Dean Fraser, Sister Pat, Abijah and Dwight Richards, alongside special guest artistes, giveaways and other surprises.

More than simply marking a milestone, the concert is designed as a thank-you to the Jamaican public for 60 years of loyalty.

Tastee was founded in 1966 by Jamaican entrepreneur Vincent Chang, who, after completing baking studies in the United States, returned home with a vision to create a patty that would become a favourite among Jamaicans. The business began at Union Square in Kingston before growing rapidly and relocating to Cross Roads, where Tastee’s corporate headquarters remains today.

Over the decades, Tastee has grown from a small bakery into one of Jamaica’s most recognisable homegrown food brands, expanding its menu and footprint while maintaining the heritage and quality that helped establish its reputation. Today, the brand serves customers across Jamaica through its network of locations and other distribution channels.

For Tastee, the 60th anniversary is ultimately about the people behind the milestone,  the customers who have shared Tastee patties on lunch breaks, road trips, school days, family outings and countless everyday Jamaican moments.

The anniversary concert therefore brings the celebration directly to the public, combining two things deeply woven into Jamaican culture: good food and great music.

Jamaica is invited to come out, bring the family and celebrate 60 years of The Original Jamaican Patty.
