Regional release opens October 29 via Caribbean Cinemas, paving the way for a limited U.S. theatrical launch in January 2027

iKon Media & Films today announced that the U.S.Virgin Islands has joined the Caribbean theatrical rollout of Stew Peas, the acclaimed Jamaican psychological thriller written, directed and produced by Sosiessia Nixon-Kelly. On October 29, 2026, the film opens simultaneously in seven territories through Caribbean Cinemas — the first Jamaican film the regional exhibitor has ever distributed.

The Caribbean release launches the film’s international rollout, ahead of a limited U.S. theatrical release beginning in January 2027.

A Regional Release Built on a Home-Market Hit

The U.S. Virgin Islands, with screenings in St. Thomas and St. Croix, joins Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, Guyana, St. Lucia and St. Kitts on the day-and-date opening slate.

The expansion follows a strong run at home. After its premiere at Carib 5 in Kingston on June 27, Stew Peas opened nationwide on July 22, in the same summer window as major Hollywood releases including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Nearly three months later, the film continues to hold its screens in Jamaican cinemas.

Industry and Filmmaker Perspectives

The partnership marks a milestone for Jamaica’s film industry. As the island attracts growing interest as a location for international productions, Stew Peas stands out as a wholly homegrown achievement.
