Jamaican artiste Shenseea is under heavy fire for her recent comments about receiving more love from international supporters than those in Jamaica.
The Lick artiste was nominated for the MTV Push Performance of the Year after her debut album ALPHA gave her the boost she needed to enter the international space.
She became the first Jamaican to ever be nominated for the award, representing Jamaican on the international stage.
The MTV Push award is designated to highlight new talents, connecting fans across the globe with emerging artistes.

Despite the success of her album and her growing presence in the industry, the Blessed artiste missed out on victory.
She lost the award to South Korean boy band Seventeen at the event yesterday (August 28).
Reacting to a Jamaica Observer article about her loss, Shenseea appeared to take offence.
Shenseea took to Twitter today (August 29) to voice her opinions about the article, stating that she has received more support internationally than from Jamaicans.
I get more love from foreigners than my own place of birth and everyone can see that. Cuz huh? How about thank you for repping 🇯🇲 and putting in the work to even get nominated after so long? https://t.co/Jg9LMvwXD2

After sharing her thoughts on the matter, the singjay received high volumes of backlash from Jamaicans who deemed her ungrateful.

Jamaican music lovers on Twitter shared that, if it was not for their support during the beginning of the Blessed artiste’s career, she would not have reached as far as she has.
Shenseea why are you lying 🤣 nobody supported you more than Jamaican/Caribbean people. That’s how you got to where you are my G.. second time you choose to berate your own people. It’s giving sellout https://t.co/CRT60a7pKc

But nobody is more rabid about Shenseea than Jamaicans. But again, eh.
Without Jamaican support Shenseea wouldn’t even have a career. Those paid ShadeRoom posts a swell her head

Though the backlash was significant, the Lick artiste still received some love from supporters who pointed out that she should have been praised for her nomination.
They further pointed out that her experience was not unique as many other Jamaicans receive more love internationally.
A little thanks for repping JA even though she didn’t win, wouldn’t be so bad would it?

But she is right. And not the only talent that we do that to. As a matter of fact even Sean Paul gets more love and respect overseas.
