The year 2023 has started on a positive note for the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda where homicides are concerned.

Based on reports, it can be noted that for the first time in at least the last three years, the country has recorded zero murders in the first quarter of the year.

From 2019-2021, there was at least one killing recorded by the second month of the year. However, since the start of 2023 no homicide has been reported in the country.

Also worth noting is that there will be 50 per cent fewer murders in 2022 than in 2021.

In 2021, a staggering 16 murders took place in Antigua, which has a population of about 100,000 people.

While in 2022, there were only eight murders, but in two cases, two people were murdered at the same time, bringing the total number of people killed to ten.
