Yesterday (September 25) at the first National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) for the 2022/2023 political year, Dr Angela Brown Burke was re-elected as chairperson of the organisation.

Despite inclement weather conditions, members of the NEC filled the Knox Community College Auditorium in Manchester to elect the chairman, deputy chairman and eleven elected members.

This democratic process which saw the re-election of the first female chairperson of the party, also saw the return of Senator Floyd Morris as deputy chairperson.

The NEC is the highest decision-making body of the party outside of the annual national conference which was held last week.

In a statement, the PNP thanked all NEC members who accepted nominations and offered themselves to serve the party and the people of Jamaica.

“We thank you for recommitting your energies and efforts to our vibrant and noble movement,” the opposition noted.
