COVID-19 Update | Health ministry reports 12 new cases

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is reporting that 12 COVID-19 cases were recorded between February 20 and 26.

This represents a decline when compared to the previous weekly report (January 30 to February 5) when some 23 new cases were reported on the island.

A parish breakdown of the latest report saw Kingston and St Andrew recording two cases, Manchester recording four, St Thomas with three, Trelawny with one and Westmoreland with two. There were no report of new cases in the remaining parishes.

There was a decline in the 7-day positivity rate, which fell to 5.5 per cent from 10.3 per cent.

There are also 19 active cases of COVID-19 on the island.

Seven new deaths were confirmed in the ministry’s weekly report. The deaths were said to have occurred between 2021 and 2023. Three coincidental deaths were also reported.

No death is currently under investigation.
