Education Minister Fayval Williams has disclosed that, to date, a total of 99,887 students have received at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, out of a population of approximately 240,000.
The minister disclosed this information during a sitting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday (November 9).
The minister added that once the 65 per cent threshold is met, students will be able to return to face-to-face classes, noting that other modalities for children who are not vaccinated will still be made available.
“We will still have the other modalities online, audio/visual, learning kit available for those students whose parents have chosen to not let their children take the vaccination.”

Cabinet approved administration of the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine for secondary students on November 8.
The education ministry has been amassing students aged 12 to 18 to get vaccinated so the education system can return to some sense of normalcy.
Williams shared that there are a number of vaccination blitzes in schools with nurses, making it convenient for students to get vaccinated.
She added: “I implore our school leaders, our teachers, our administrators, all the staff at our schools, if you have not already done so, to get vaccinated so that we can create ‘resilient corridors’ in our schools.”
