Following a new travel policy that comes into effect on Monday (October 11), fully-vaccinated Jamaicans travelling to the United Kingdom will no longer be required to self isolate upon arrival to the country.
According to an updated travel guidance released on Thursday (October 7), as of 4 am on Monday (October 11), Jamaica will be added to the UK’s list of countries and territories with approved proof of vaccination.
This means that fully vaccinated Jamaicans – who have been inoculated with both doses of either AstraZeneca or Pfizer or the single-dose J&J jab – and have completed their 14-day cycle will no longer need to be guided by the policy for unvaccinated persons.
Citizens are being advised, however, that if they arrive in England before the 11th they should be guided by the rules set for unvaccinated persons.

Persons who arrive after the 11th may use a vaccine certificate to prove their vaccination status. These vaccine certificates should include at a minimum:
- one’s forename and surname(s)
- one’s date of birth
- the vaccine brand and manufacturer
- the date of vaccination for every dose
- the country or territory of vaccination and/or certificate issuer
Issues surrounding the validity of Jamaica’s vaccination drive initially surfaced on Monday (September 20) after it emerged that the Government of the United Kingdom, did not recognise fully vaccinated Jamaicans who arrived in the country, resulting in them having to adhere to UK quarantine rules.
In light of this, the Jamaican Government moved to have discussions with the UK Government in hopes that any issue surrounding the acceptance of Jamaica’s vaccine certificate could be rectified before new travel measures took effect in October.
