Iberostar Hotels & Resorts is strengthening its commitment to developing local talent through its two-day Hospitality Expansion & Future Talent Drive, which connected aspiring hospitality professionals with career opportunities across its Jamaican operations.
Held on August 13 and 14 at the Iberostar Convention Centre, the recruitment drive generated strong interest from candidates across Jamaica, with more than 1,400 aspiring hospitality professionals interviewed for opportunities with the hotel group. Applicants travelled from as far as Mandeville and Westmoreland to explore career opportunities with Iberostar.
Among the candidates interviewed, the greatest interest was recorded for positions in Front Desk, Bars and Restaurants, Guest Services and Housekeeping, alongside opportunities across other key areas of the hotel’s operations.

The recruitment drive underscores the continued strength of Jamaica’s tourism and hospitality sector and reinforces Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to investing in its people through career development and professional training. The initiative comes as Iberostar Hotels & Resorts prepares for the next phase of its Montego Bay operations, including the reopening of JOIA Rose Hall by the end of 2026 following an ambitious renovation, further enhancing the resort’s luxury offering in Jamaica.

Modielle Calder, Director of Human Resources at Iberostar Hotels & Resorts in Jamaica, said the response to the recruitment drive reflects the continued interest in opportunities within the tourism sector. “The response to our Hospitality Expansion & Future Talent Drive exceeded our expectations and demonstrated the tremendous interest in building a career with Iberostar. As we prepare for the future reopening of JOIA, we remain committed to supporting our existing employees while welcoming new talent into our hospitality family.”

During the two-day event, applicants met with Iberostar’s recruitment team to learn about available positions and career opportunities across the company’s hotel operations. Approximately 400 vacancies are currently available, with the majority expected to support the reopening of JOIA Rose Hall, while additional opportunities will be available across Iberostar’s other hotels in Jamaica.
The initiative is part of Iberostar’s broader workforce strategy, supporting the company’s continued growth in Montego Bay while creating pathways for new talent to enter and advance within the hospitality industry.
