Ambassador Dushyant Savadia continues to lead the way with Jamaica’s technological and digital solutions, developing a number of apps that help the country.

This time, the Amber Group has donated J$80 million to develop and launch JamSafe, a new personal safety app, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport — at no cost to the Jamaican government.

The donation was announced Friday, August 14, at the JamSafe contract signing ceremony at the Ministry of Culture and Gender, where Amber Group founder and CEO, Ambassador Dushyant Savadia, reaffirmed the tech multinational’s commitment to Jamaica.

“Every time Jamaica needs us, we will be the first one to stand, the first one to solve and the first one to give back no matter what. For us, we are here for Jamaica. Anything that we can do, we will go beyond our call of duty,” Savadia said.

Through JamSafe, registered and unregistered users who feel threatened can use a one-tap in-app emergency alert, which goes directly to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) after an initial AI-supported assessment. Built by Amber Innovations, the app’s core functions also include a 24/7 gender-based violence (GBV) helpline, data collection and case management portals, parish-based service directories, accessibility and inclusion features, and AI-assisted support.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia “Babsy” Grange, welcomed the donation.

“The app is valued at 80 million Jamaican dollars. We have been able to convince Amber — not only because I think I am a convincing negotiator, but because of their corporate conscience and the commitment they have made to Jamaica to develop this app, and it does not cost the Government of Jamaica, this ministry,one dollar,” Minister Grange said.

JamSafe is the latest in a string of donated digital solutions from Amber Group, the supportjamaica.gov website, donated in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa as a disaster management system for the government.

The group exemplifies this commitment to Jamaica through digital solutions that have bridged unprecedented challenges and empowered the government to function effectively.
