Personnel under investigation are ex-servicemen
The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is seeking to set the record straight regarding media reports about soldiers being investigated as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation involving law enforcement personnel.
The local army is declaring that the men referenced in the media reports are ex-servicemen and are no longer employed by the JDF.
In a statement released to the media, the JDF states, “the JDF takes matters involving the integrity and conduct of its members seriously; however, individuals who have separated from the force no longer represent or act on behalf of the force in any capacity.”
The JDF says it “remains committed to supporting the rule of law and will provide the requisite assistance of our partners in this matter. As the matter remains an active investigation, the JDF is mindful of the investigative and judicial processes and the need to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and therefore, the JDF wishes not to comment further on this matter.”
