The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) has postponed the launch of its International Coastal Cleanup Jamaica day.

In a release about the postponement of the event, JET said such an action was necessary due to “circumstances beyond ” there control.

The new date for the coastal clean up which originally scheduled for Friday (August 20) is yet to be released.

However, JET encouraged Jamaicans to “stay tuned for updates on ICC 2021.”

ICC Day takes place on the third Saturday in September every year and is considered the largest one-day volunteer event in the world.

The event which occurs annually has been funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) since 2008.

 Jamaica first joined the ICC movement in the mid-1990s, as of 2008, JET became national coordinators of ICC activities in Jamaica.
