Canadian-Jamaican deejay King Cruff recently released the highly anticipated ‘SHEDOENEED‘ track alongside the official music video via Tuff Gong Collective/Universal Music Canada.

“‘SHEDOENEED‘ is one for the independent ladies,” says King Cruff. “My family has always had a powerful matriarchal energy and growing up surrounded by strong women has inspired me to search for strength within myself. I have a deep respect for women and this song celebrates the beauty and strength in their confidence.”

Combining Afrobeats, dancehall, R&B and pop, ‘SHEDOENEED‘ is true to the unique amalgam of genres Cruff has crafted into his signature sound.

Shot on location in Toronto and Jamaica, and featuring verses from award-winning Ghanaian artiste Stonebwoy and Bahamas’ Jag.Huligin, the celebratory ode to independent women is also Cruff’s most collaborative song to date.

“Getting the chance to release a track with one of my closest friends and collaborators Jag.Huligin is a moment in itself,” mused Cruff. “On top of that, to have Afrobeats legend Stonebwoy bring his incredible talent and lyrical perspective to the track just took it to the next level.”

SHEDOENEED‘ follows King Cruff’s Top 40 radio hit ‘Soufflé’ and label debut ‘Samurai Chop‘ which earned him the title of Pandora’s Artist to Watch: Caribbean.

A natural-born performer, King Cruff has been spent the summer months on stages in Canada, the US and Jamaica for cultural events like Toronto’s Caribana and Afro Carib Fest, ‘Tuff Gong Takeover’ in New York alongside Skip Marley, at both the Los Angeles and Toronto opening nights of the Bob Marley One Love Experience and at multiple festivals throughout the summer.

King Cruff, born Solomon Marley-Spence, was gifted with the talents of songwriting and performance in his blood.

An introspective storyteller, Cruff explores the juxtapositions of human behaviour with energising, innovative sounds that uplift and inspire. Drawn to the theme of duality, he plays with these layers in his music, juxtaposing vibrant rhythms and tempos with lyrics that have narrative depth woven within his intricate bars and smooth cadence.

The 25-year-old artiste views his songs as think pieces set to his original ‘punky’ sound.

Uniting his love for hip-hop, reggae, dancehall and funk, the versatile King Cruff creates music formed from an ear-bending amalgam of genres across the diaspora.
