Will Manchester United ever recapture the glory days of Sir Alex Ferguson? 

This was the season after Erik ten Hag departed as manager, when the Red Devils were supposed to come good.

Last season, they finished 15th in the English Premier League (EPL), a historic low for the club; this season, they were supposed to claim at least a Champions League spot.

Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, promised to turn things around, but this season has already got off to a dismal start.

Today (September 14) Pep Guardiola’s team dominated at the Etihad Stadium with Erling Haaland bringing misery by terrorising United’s back line. He scored two goals in the second half, bringing his tally of goals this week to seven.

Phil Foden scored the first goal in the 18th minute. The second half revealed just where United are these days-they are no longer a top-five side. 

This team under Amorim looks rudderless. 

The fans headed for the exit well before the end of this embarrassment. 

After getting spanked today, United are in 14th position with just four points.
