NET executive director placed on precautionary leave amid investigation

Following the decision to conduct an internal probe at the National Education Trust (NET), the company’s board of directors has opted to place executive director Marcia Phillips-Dawkins on precautionary leave.

Prior to being sent on precautionary leave, Phillips-Dawkins said she was unaware of any infraction that she had made and was surprised by the decision, which was relayed to her in a letter.

Representing the NET executive director senior attorney-at-law Anthony Williams, who says he will be writing to the entity’s chairman, Ryan Reid, to ascertain what the allegations are.

Williams said Phillips-Dawkins will be maintaining and defending her innocence and integrity as the investigation unfolds.

In a press release today (November 17), NET shared that it remained committed to its core principles of transparency and accountability in its operations as the Trust strives to enhance the education sector in Jamaica.
