AP/NORC poll says 60 per cent of Americans feel that Biden and Trump are too old to be the next President.

In the modern technological age of the twenty-first century, come January of next year, America will be governed by an old man with dubious mental capabilities.

That view was reconfirmed by the latest Associated Press (AP)/ NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll which found 60 per cent of voters think that both Joe Biden and Donald Trump lack the mental capability to be the U.S. President.

President Joe Biden is 81, while Donald Trump is 77.

If either man should win in November, he would be the oldest man to be President in American history.

To be President requires energy, stamina, and mental acuity. One has to attend to a multitude of problems at the same time.

Both men are in the late evening of their years where such attributes have faded and are on the decline. They are only human after all.

With the world in conflict, a war in Europe, and another brewing in the Middle East, the President of the U.S.. will have to be on top of his game.

According to this poll, 6 in 10 Americans are not confident in President Joe Biden’s mental capabilities. His spoken gaffes and mistakes do not help him here.

Also 6 in 10 Americans have little faith in Donald Trump’s mental capabilities with many viewing him as reckless, dangerous, and unfit to hold the power that resides in the office of the Presidency.

Cognitive decline in both men is a real problem for most Americans.

In the same poll, 60 per cent of Republicans are confident in Trump’s mental abilities.

Worryingly for the Democrats, just 38 per cent of those polled think Biden is doing a good job as President. As much as 57 per cent think the economy is worse off than before Biden took office in 2021.

The poll of 1,102 adults was conducted between February 22-26, using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel.
