Amid reports of counterfeit bottles of its rum in the United Kingdom (UK), J. Wray & Nephew Ltd has sought to assure local consumers in Jamaica that there has been no indication that such fraudulently packaged product has made their way to the island’s shores.

In a statement today (March 28), J. Wray & Nephew said it was aware of reports on social media about the counterfeit bottles allegedly circulating in the UK.

“Wray & Nephew’s products are created in compliance with strict health and safety requirements,” the company said.

“We therefore encourage consumers to buy from reputable sources and to always look for the red tamper evident safety seal – one mark of authentic Wray & Nephew – which should make a ‘crick’ sound and break into several pieces when opened.”
