Legendary British actor Tim Curry, best known for his unforgettable role as Dr. Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at the age of 80.

 Curry reportedly died at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday night after emergency crews responded to a medical emergency, with authorities saying no foul play is suspected.

Curry’s career stretched across five decades, with memorable appearances in It, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Annie, Clue, The Hunt for Red October and Muppet Treasure Island. His performance as Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It introduced him to another generation of fans and became one of his most recognisable roles.

His work also extended well beyond film and television, with Curry earning three Tony Award nominations and an Emmy nomination during his career. His distinctive voice also made him a popular choice for animation and voice acting.

Curry faced major health challenges later in life after suffering a serious stroke in 2012 that affected his mobility. Despite those difficulties, he remained connected to his work and fans, releasing his memoir Vagabond last year.
