The police are on high alert for possible reprisals following the fatal shooting of five men during an operation in the Jacks Hill area of St Andrew, which resulted in the recovery of four high-powered firearms.

A quantity of ammunition was also seized.

According to the police, some time after midday on Monday, lawmen were attacked by gunmen while on an operation in the community, which isn’t known for such violence.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has confirmed knowledge of the incident.
