The St James Police have opened an investigation into the shooting deaths of a teacher and a taxi operator in the Montpelier community on Wednesday night (June 18).

The victims were identified as 32-year-old educator Vanessa Williams and 36-year-old Matthew Chin, both of a Guinep Tree Lane address in the parish.

According to preliminary reports, the Anchovy Police were summoned to Guinep Tree Lane around 10:12 pm after residents heard explosions.

“On their arrival, Chin was seen slumped over the steering wheel of a
Toyota Voxy motorcar, whilst Williams was seen lying face down beside the vehicle, both with gunshot wounds,” the police added.

The pair was taken to hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.
