Kingston’s Ocean Boulevard, the capital city’s waterfront, is set to receive a powerful image boost as a luxury lifestyle destination when Saint International stages the groundbreaking inaugural West Indies Fashion Art and Architecture Exchange (WIFAX) between October 20-26.

This never-done-before cultural fusion is being heralded as historic, timely and a powerful value proposition in several quarters.

WIFAX stands as a vital cornerstone of the downtown Kingston renaissance project, serving as a dynamic catalyst that reimagines the waterfront into a premier global cultural hub. By uniting elite minds across creative disciplines, this unprecedented exchange injects vibrant energy and high-end tourism directly into the heart of the capital city. The multi-day influx of international visitors, industry leaders, and tastemakers will generate immense economic momentum, driving substantial revenue for local hotels, restaurants, retail merchants, and ancillary service providers while cementing Kingston’s status as a profitable cultural capital.

“This creative project has been more than seven years in the making—I started consultations with stakeholders across industries in 2019 and then as I looked to revive Style Week Jamaica post-COVID,” reveals visionary Saint Ceo Deiwght Peters.

“Style Week Jamaica could not return as it was previously done. It needed an augmented platform—the addition of Art (first) and Architecture later created the cohesive cultural juggernaut that is WIFAX.”

WIFAX is a game-changer. WIFAX is positioned as a cultural power move to attract hundreds of visitors to downtown Kingston over multiple days, not just for one day or night. The ROK Hotel, the Jamaica Conference Centre, and other designated Artspaces© will host exhibitions, curated experiences, press conferences, live shows, themed symposia, master classes, podcasts, and roundtable discussions, among other key activations. Participants from across the Caribbean and the global lifestyle industry will descend on the capital city.

WIFAX highlights the changing landscape and aesthetic of the downtown waterfront, giving a ‘riviera’ vibe to the space. WIFAX is timely to elevate the experience and STYLE WEEK JAMAICA will bring glamour to the capital city, attracting supermodels, designers, stylists, photographers, industry creatives, and buyers. The SWJ events will feature lunchtime resort Collections at the ROK Hotel (October 22 & 23), the International Mecca of Style: Men and Women Collections (October 22 & 23, respectively), and the blockbuster FASHIONBLOCK on October 24.

By serving as a magnet for global creative industry stakeholders, WIFAX provides an extraordinary, high-visibility stage that elevates Jamaican and Caribbean talent to the apex of the international market. This strategic convergence fosters unparalleled networking, cross-border mentorship, and commercial trade, creating profound significance for all participants who stand to gain global exposure and lucrative career opportunities. For downtown Kingston, anchoring such a prestigious international contingent marks a definitive shift toward becoming the Caribbean’s undisputed epi-centre of creative luxury and enterprise.

The Kingston Art Week schedule will include activated Artspaces© featuring works by new and established artists. The first NEXT-GEN exhibition promises to be a winner as it showcases an eclectic mix of talent from high schools across the country. The entertainment-themed photo exhibits and showcases will be a hit. A performance art feature, curated by a leading cultural intellectual, will be broadcast live across multiple platforms to markets as far as Africa.

The highlight from the Kingston Architect Week event will be the first-ever curated works of architects, dubbed from Blue to Masterpiece, showing the full spectrum of the best works of some of the country’s best architects (whom Peters calls ‘Artists of the built environment’). The exhibitions for Blueprint will be housed at the Jamaica Conference Centre. The Citystyle Architectural tours around Kingston are another exciting activation, allowing guests to visit a curated list of sites with established architectural value.

WIFAX is not just an event; it’s a movement. The medium- to long-term strategy will include another boundary-breaking move for industry growth and income generation for the cultural and creative industries. Peters, former Chairman of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, has activated his global connections in art, fashion, and architecture to ensure an impactful event with the desired outcome.

Peters’ WIFAX vision is powered by a cadre of high-profile sponsors and partners, including The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT, NYC), The Urban Development Corporation (UDC), The Embassy of France, The ROK HOTEL (The Official Hotel), The National Gallery, Clear Sounds Production, and Lloyd J. Robinson & Associates, The Saint Style Network, The Jamaica Institute of Architects, The Caribbean School of Architects, and a growing list of enthusiastic collaborators.
