Jamaica-based regional manufacturing conglomerate Seprod Group was impacted by higher operating costs resulting from acquisition integration and increased finance charges during the first half of 2025, but anticipates a quick turnaround.

Net profit for the June quarter closed on $592 million, down $350 million or 37% while net profit year-to-date is down $704 million or 33% to $1.44 billion. Operating expenses shot up by 50% to $5.33 billion, largely due to the acquisition of majority shares in Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) late last year.

As a result, operating profit inched down by 2% to $4.60 billion (2024: $4.70 billion), as higher operating expenses offset gross margin gains. Finance costs went up 36% to $2.39 billion (2024: $1.76 billion).

As such, Seprod is committing to reducing cost, improving productivity & operational efficiency, and leveraging acquisitions for long-term value creation.

New imperative of cost management and operational efficiency,

The group anticipates that the strategic decisions taken during the quarter, particularly those focused on cost management, operational efficiency, and deepening integration across its regional operations to unlock synergies that will position the Jamaican conglomerate to deliver improved margins and sustained recovery in profitability in the second half of 2025 and beyond.

For the June quarter, Seprod generated revenues of $37.48 billion, up $7.74 billion (26%) compared to the corresponding period in 2024. This was driven primarily by the full-period consolidation of CPJ, acquired in July 2024, as well as solid performance across core categories.

Total Assets closed on $137.08 billion, up 30% from $105.27 billion in June 2024. Total liabilities moved up by 40% to $89.61 billion, from $63.97 billion. Shareholders’ Equity amounted to $47.47 billion at June 30, 2025.
