Small quake rattles eastern and central Caribbean

A small 4.6 earthquake rattled several countries in the eastern and central Caribbean on Saturday (October 23).

It is reported that shaking was felt in the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Saint Martin, Sint Maarten, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, U.S. Virgin Islands, Caribbean Netherlands and Saint Barthélemy.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 4.6. earthquake struck 21 miles northwest of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda at around 5:47 p.m.

USGS said the earthquake struck at a depth of approximately 57 miles.

The Caribbean has been seismically active in the last 24 hours, there were 8 earthquakes having a magnitude of 2.5 or greater in the region.
