Jamaican social media influencer and political activist Kamla Nicole Forbes-Thomas has been arrested in North Carolina on a misdemeanour charge of failure to appear in court, according to official records from the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office.

The records show that Forbes-Thomas was taken into custody on October 5, 2025, by the Ranlo Police Department and later booked at the Gaston County Jail. She was granted a secured bond of US $2,500, with the arrest linked to a Burke County court matter, listed under docket number Burke25CR705370.

While online speculation has connected the failure-to-appear charge to a prior larceny or property-related case, no certified Burke County court documents have confirmed those claims as of Wednesday.

Local authorities have not issued a public statement on the nature of the original charge.

The failure-to-appear offence typically arises when an individual does not attend a scheduled court appearance in a pending case. It can trigger a warrant for arrest and additional penalties depending on the severity of the initial matter.
