In November 2025, as Spaces prepared to mark its 18th anniversary, Hurricane Melissa devastated communities across western Jamaica, leaving countless families displaced.

Founder and Creative Director Janelle Pantry-Coke believed there was a responsibility to do more than acknowledge the devastation — there was a responsibility to act. From that conviction, Rebuilding with Heart was born: an initiative to help affected families restore comfort, dignity, and hope as they begin rebuilding their lives.

Today, Spaces is proud to announce that it has fulfilled the promise made during that celebration through the donation of 250 mattresses to families impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

The donation was made possible through the generosity of Ashley Furniture Industries, which provided the mattresses, with transportation from the United States facilitated by ECU Worldwide and Freight Handlers. 

A partnership with the FLOW Foundation provided further financial and logistical support, and distribution is being coordinated by the Rotary Club of Savanna-la-Mar, whose members are identifying beneficiary families and managing on-the-ground delivery.

Rebuilding requires more than one form of support — it requires financial assistance, physical resources, and emotional encouragement. ‘Rebuilding with Heart’ reflects our belief that spaces are more than buildings — they are where families find comfort, security, and belonging. Through this initiative, we hope to help families restore not only their homes, but also their sense of hope.”

While the initial fundraising activities began in November 2025, the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa is still felt in many communities across western Jamaica, and Spaces Jamaica encourages those who are able to assist to continue to do so.
