The viral song and dance of dancehall artiste Teejay’s hit track ‘Drift’ have made it on popular online game Fortnite, becoming the first Jamaican exclusive emote to achieve this feat.

The song was produced by Panda, and released with Teejay in April 2023.

Created by Gabbidon, the dance moves became a global phenomenon in 2023, as one of the more popular Jamaican dance moves on TikTok with even celebs like Chris Bown taking part in the dance craze.

Fortnite is an arena-style game, where you join teams to compete against other teams across the globe to survive in an open world. Players must work together to defeat other characters that are either controlled by the game or by other players.

A game that is in tune with pop culture, Fortnite is renowned for adapting dance moves and having their avatars perform these moves (emoting) as they wait to be selected by the player.

Dancing and emotes may be unlocked for your Fortnite character by earning them through the Fortnite Battle Pass or purchasing them with “V-bucks” in the item shop.

Moves like “Flossing”, “The Running Man,” “Savage” and many more have been adapted by Fortnite in the past, with over 800 available for players to choose from.

Teejay posted on his Instagram account reposting fan reactions to the news with the caption, ” Another win for the #UpTopBoss and #Jamaica”.
