In a celebration of femininity and fine wine, CPJs Cellar Society Wine Club marked International Women’s Day with a soft launch event that left attendees enchanted. 

Hosted at CRU Bar and Kitchen, the gathering honoured women’s achievements and contributions, providing a platform for empowerment and appreciation, all while indulging in the finest wines and delectable cuisine. Hosts Shauntelle Duffus, corporate wine specialist for the west; Meaghan McConnell, corporate wine specialist for the east; and Gina Forrest, senior brand manager for wines and premium waters, gave a thorough presentation on what to expect during the wine tasting, creating an atmosphere of elegance and fun with their vibrance.

The event, held on March 8, saw a diverse group of women coming together to revel in the wine-tasting and food-paring experience, as they learned to appreciate and savour exquisite flavours. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of a line of Fantinel wines: Prosecco Extra Dry, Sun Goddess Romato Pinot Grigio, Tenuta Sant’Helena ‘Judri’ Sauvignon, Sant’Helena ‘Rocciaponca’ Pinot Grigio, Tenuta Sant’ Helena ‘Neblo’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Tenuta Sant’Helena ‘Venka’ Collio Rosso Red Blend.

All the wines and accompanying dishes captured the essence of womanhood, sex and elegance in every sip and bite. The Sun Goddess Wine was hit, but so were the others. 

The Sun Goddess Wine, produced by Fantinel for Mary J. Blige, is named after her childhood family nickname “Sun Goddess”.

“The inspiration was just loving white wine, loving Pinot Grigio,” Blige said in her interview with Fantinel owner Marco Fantinel.

Guests were treated to a sensory journey as they sampled The Sun Goddess Wine Pinot Grigio, alongside a curated selection of gourmet dishes, meticulously paired to enhance the tasting experience. From delicate cheeses to succulent appetizers, each bite complemented the rich flavours of the wine, tantalising the palate and igniting conversations around the table.

As glasses clinked and laughter filled the air, the atmosphere buzzed with camaraderie and solidarity. Women from various backgrounds and professions mingled, sharing stories of triumphs and challenges, and fostering connections that transcended boundaries. It was a testament to the unifying power of wine, bringing people together in celebration of womanhood and unity.

The soft launch of the Cellar Society Wine Club’s International Women’s Day event not only celebrated the achievements of women but also served as a platform for advocacy and empowerment- the food and wine were an exquisite gift added to a marvellous night.
