Three Jamaican men who were held during a recent sting operation in Antigua and Barbuda have been remanded to prison. 

They are 25-year-old Aljermin McLean, Joshua Newton, 21, and Elvis Smith, 54, jointly charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to supply and possession with intent to transfer. 

The Jamaicans were remanded after appearing before the local magistrate’s court on Thursday. They are to return to court on November 25 for mention and a case management report.

The charges follow a police sting operation on September 14, during which authorities reportedly found the three men in possession of 26.4 pounds of marijuana valued at approximately EC$79,000.

The three accused were not represented by attorneys during their court appearance.
