US advance monthly sales for retail and food services rose by 0.7% in Sept 2021

Advance estimates for September 2021 show that retail and food service sales in the United States were up 0.7 per cent to US$625.4 billion from the previous month.

Data from the US Census Bureau Advanced Monthly Retail Trade Survey for October 15, 2021 shows that this figure is 13.9 per cent higher than one year ago in September 2020.

Total sales increased 14.9 per cent from July to September 2021 quarter compared to the same period the previous year.

The US Census Bureau Advanced Monthly Retail Trade Survey noted that the percentage change from July 2021 to August 2021 was amended from 0.7 per cent to 0.9 per cent.

Retail trade sales increased by 0.8 per cent in August 2021 and were up 12.2 per cent over the previous year.

From September 2020 to September 2021, gasoline stations increased by 38.2 per cent, while food services and drinking establishments increased by 29.5 per cent.
