Thousands of students gathered on the old library lawns of the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Mona campus for what can only be described as a soca experience to last more than a lifetime at the UWI Carnival launch.

The launch, sponsored by Smirnoff and Rum Stripe, was the perfect kick-starter to what promised to be an unforgettable staging of the 2024 UWI Carnival. 

Renowned DJs like A-Team, ZJ Spectre, Matt Camps, Trinidadian native selector, Watty, DJ Jubba Dem and DJ Breeze took to the stage and kept the crowd dancing all night long to a fusion of the best soca hits across multiple generations. 

As the party came to an end, students left with a heart filled with excitement as they had a taste of what was to come for the highlight anticipated UWI Carnival Ring Road event.
