Mayberry Jamaican Equities (MJE) has opened a secured bond offer aimed at investors seeking fixed income over a three-year period. Here are five key details readers should know before considering the investment.

1. The bond offers a fixed annual interest rate of 9.50 per cent.

The MJE bond carries a fixed interest rate of 9.50 per cent per annum, with no reset or repricing during the 36-month term. This means investors will receive interest at the same rate throughout the life of the bond, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the prospectus.

2. Investors can start with J$20,000.

The minimum investment is J$20,000, with additional investments made in increments of J$10,000. This makes the offer accessible to a broader range of investors, including individuals who may be looking to begin building a fixed-income portfolio without committing a large sum at the outset. A processing fee of J$172.50 applies to each application.

3. Interest payments will be made every quarter.

Interest is calculated and accrued daily, using a 360-day year, and is scheduled to be paid quarterly on December 30, March 30, June 30 and September 30. The first interest payment is scheduled for December 30, 2026, while the final interest payment will be made on the maturity date.

4. The bond is secured by a basket of MJE shares.

The bond is secured by a charge over a basket of MJE’s shares listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. These shares will be held by JCSD Trustee Services Limited, acting as Security Trustee. The security arrangement is an important feature of the offer, although investors should review the prospectus carefully to understand the specific terms, risks and conditions attached to the security.

5. A J$20,000 investment is scheduled to earn J$5,700 over three years.

Assuming the bond is held until maturity and before applicable taxes, fees and charges, a J$20,000 investment is scheduled to earn J$475 in quarterly interest, or J$1,900 annually. Over the full 36-month period, the total scheduled interest would be J$5,700. At higher investment levels, J$100,000 would generate J$28,500 in total interest, while J$1 million would generate J$285,000 over the same period.

Important dates

The offer opened on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and is scheduled to close on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., subject to MJE’s right to shorten or extend the subscription period.
