A Governance Review Commission established by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) as part of the federation’s transformation strategy is to be presided over by Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) President Christopher Samuda.

The newly appointed chairman previously chaired, at the request of the JFF, the Premier League of Jamaica Interim Committee (PLJIC) that eventually gave birth to the Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), which is chaired by businessman Chris Williams.

The commission will engage a wide cross-section of stakeholders on several issues and its work plan will include a review of existing organizational structures, corporate planning and processes, legal arrangements and systems, finance and fiscal policies as well as investment and treasury strategies, technical programmes and human capital and development.

Marketing and branding development, IT systems and platforms and bi-lateral and multilateral relationships will also be under review.

The world governing body, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), has endorsed the JFF’s initiative and the appointment of the Commission and will be partnering with the Saluda-led Commission.

“The assignment is definitely far-reaching and requires in-depth analysis and time-bound deliverables, which we will undertake with the conviction that the sport and the governing body will thrive in a governance model that will facilitate material growth and stability and be sustainable,” Samuda said.

Samuda, an Executive Board member of Centro Caribe Sports, which owns the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, and Chairman of its Legal Commission, will be joined by independent member and well-known sport administrator and former Cricket West Indies (CWI) President, Dave Cameron, and members of the JFF including Peter Reid, Wayne Thompson, General Secretary Dalton Wint and Debra Shaw. Outside expertise will be engaged by the Commission in fulfilling its tasks.
