Back in 2002, athletics legend Merlene Ottey switched from Jamaica to represent Slovenia, and now word has come down that Usain Bolt is expected to switch to another team as well.

No worries though, folks, as the retired fastest man in the world remains firmly with Jamaica. But his football star friend, Leon Bailey is certain the triple world record holder will soon be moving, as a fan, from Manchester United to Aston Villa.

Bailey, who this week completed signing with the English Premier League side, told The Sun newspaper that Bolt will likely be turning his support to Villa Park.

Bolt, 34, is well known to be a Manchester United fan and once declared his desire to play for the Red Devils.

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist, revealing how passionate he is about football, even had a short stint playing for Australian side Central Coast Mariners in 2018. But that was in a different league and posed no conflict with his love for Manchester United.

Speaking on Bolt, the 23-year-old Bailey said: “Anywhere I go, he (Bolt) is going to be a fan. So of course right now he is a Villa fan.”

He added: “I have known him for a long time. He is a good friend of mine and an inspiration. I am sure he will want to come and see Villa against Manchester United.”

Bailey on Wednesday signed a four-year deal after arriving for a fee around £30 million from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to The Sun, while Bailey will be aiming to help Villa on the pitch, his friendship with Bolt could bring star quality to the Villa Park stands.
