Angel Reese didn’t suit up for the Chicago Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever on Friday night (September 5), as the WNBA hit her with a one-game suspension after she picked up her eighth technical foul of the season. 

The call came after Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, when Reese caught Aaliyah Edwards in the head while battling for a rebound. That tech pushed her over the league’s limit, triggering an automatic suspension, no surprise, but still a tough blow.

There was some hope the foul might be overturned, but no luck. The decision stuck.

It’s been a tough stretch for the 23-year-old; earlier this week, she had to smooth things over with her team after making some eyebrow-raising comments in an interview.

With the Sky sitting at 11-30, tensions are high, and now they’ll be down one of their key players for a crucial matchup. Reese is eligible to return on September 7 when the Sky head to Vegas to take on the Aces.
