CCRP’s Living Legacy Awards press ahead while respecting COVID-19 restrictions

While recognising the need to operate within the ambit of the current restrictions to mitigate against the spread of COVID-19, the Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP) is pushing ahead with its Living Legacy Awards, set to take place on November 25, starting 2:00 pm at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston. 

CCRP Founder and Executive Chair Jean Lowrie-Chin said the organization felt it was necessary to continue its award programme and pay tribute to Jamaican seniors who had made exemplary contributions to nation-building. 

The 2021 Living Legacy Awardees are: Audrey Hinchcliffe, who will received the J. Lester Spaulding Award for Business; Professor Hermi Hewitt, who will receive the Syringa Marshall Burnett Award for Health; Parris Lyew Ayee Sr, for services to the public and private sectors in the mining industry; and Professor Peter Figueroa for health and health education.

A special Award of Appreciation will be presented to Dr Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie, chief medical officer, in recognition of her work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to Deputy Superintendent of Police Natalie Palmer-Mair, in recognition of her work in leading the distribution of care packages to indigent seniors.

Previous awardees include Oliver Samuels, playwright and performer Jean Small, and entrepreneur Glen Christian.Formed in 2010, the CCRP is a non-partisan, non-profit organisation for persons 50 years and over, with a current membership of more than 11,000.
