Popcaan fined $10,000 for breaches in the Road Traffic Act

Popular Jamaican dancehall artiste Popcaan.

Andre Sutherland, who is more popularly known by his stage name, Popcaan, has been slapped with charges for breaching the Road Traffic Act at the Yallahs Traffic Court in St Thomas.

First arrested on April 26 of this year for committing breaches, the Buzz DJ was stopped by authorities while travelling in the section of Bath in the parish, with his entourage.

The dancehall artiste has been fined a total of $10,000.

This morning, the entertainer was charged for driving without insurance and driving without a helmet, both of which were $2,000 each. He was also fined for not having a valid certificate of fitness and driving an unlicensed motorcycle, both a charge of $3,000.

On the charge of having no registration plate affixed, he was only reprimanded and subsequently discharged.

The 32-year-old artiste who is signed to Drake’s OVO label, was represented by Matthew Hyatt.
