Flow is urgently working to restore services to customers in Stony Hill, Red Hills and surrounding communities following an act of vandalism that caused extensive damage to its network infrastructure on Wednesday morning.

Several fibre lines and cables were damaged in the incident, disrupting broadband, landline and cable services for customers in the affected areas. Flow’s technical teams are on the ground assessing the extent of the damage and carrying out repairs to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

“We understand how significantly an interruption to connectivity affects our customers, their families and businesses. Connectivity is essential to how people work, learn, communicate and manage their daily lives, and we sincerely apologise for the disruption this incident has caused,” said Danielle Savory, Senior Manager, Communications, Flow. 

“Our teams are working urgently to repair the damage and restore services, and we will continue to provide updates as restoration progresses.”

The disruption comes at a particularly important time, as families, schools and businesses prepare for the start of the new school year. Reliable connectivity is increasingly essential for accessing educational resources, completing online transactions, supporting businesses and maintaining the day-to-day activities that underpin Jamaica’s economy.

Flow strongly condemns the deliberate damage to its network and says the incident highlights the broader threat posed by vandalism to Jamaica’s critical telecommunications infrastructure. The company is renewing its call for stronger laws, meaningful penalties and consistent enforcement to deter those who deliberately target telecommunications networks.

“Telecommunications infrastructure is critical national infrastructure. When it is damaged, the impact extends well beyond individual customers, as it disrupts communities, businesses and essential aspects of everyday life,” added Savory.

“Protecting these networks must be treated as a national priority, and there must be meaningful consequences for those who deliberately put connectivity and communities at risk.”

Flow is working to restore affected services in the shortest possible time and will provide updates through its social media channels as restoration progresses.
