Subsequent to the Government of Jamaica’s reopening of the entertainment sector on July 1, members of the I Love Soca team say they have joined the likes of entertainment stakeholder Dream Entertainment in applying to the Entertainment Ministry for a large event permit.
In a press release dated Tuesday (July 6), the team noted that they had submitted an “extensive proposal detailing the operation plan to host the summer 2021 staging of the I Love Soca Cooler Festival”.
Upon approval of the event’s permit, I Love Soca is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 14.

According to the release, a proposal was sent to the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), which outlined a holistic plan to place each patron’s health and safety at the forefront of the event’s staging.
Commenting on the matter, chief executive officer of I Love Soca, Andrew Bellamy stated: “As much as we are enthused at the partial reopening of the entertainment sector, we are also aware that we must enjoy experiences responsibly.”
He continued: “For the past 10 years we have hosted incident-free stagings of I Love Soca Ja and, through our proposal, we highlighted our plan to heighten our health and safety measures to ensure each patron is adequately accounted for as we continue the fight against COVID-19.”
I Love Soca lovers are being asked to stay tuned to the event’s social media pages for further updates, ticket information and the event’s health and safety plan.
