As part of Jamaica’s strategy to strengthen its security and regional cooperation with the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), National Security and Peace Minister, Dr Horace Chang, is now there holding discussions with the government.

Yesterday, the Jamaican delegation, led by Dr Chang, held discussions with TCI Governor, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam; Premier, Charles Washington Misick; and members of the National Security Council. The meeting focused on shared security priorities and opportunities to deepen cooperation between the two countries and their respective law enforcement agencies.

Dr Chang and his delegation, comprising Commissioner of Police Dr Kevin Blake and Deputy Commissioner Warren Clarke, also met with members of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, including officers from the Tactical Unit and Marine Branch, as well as members of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment.

The engagements provide an opportunity to discuss shared regional security challenges and identify areas for continued cooperation between security agencies in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos Islands.

The visit by the Jamaican delegation builds on growing security cooperation between the two countries, including collaboration between their law enforcement agencies, joint training and operational support aimed at strengthening capabilities and regional security.

The Office of the TCI Premier issued a statement saying, “Jamaica remains a valued regional partner, and we greatly appreciate the longstanding friendship and practical cooperation between our nations. As we confront shared security challenges across the Caribbean, strong regional partnerships remain essential to protecting our people and strengthening our collective resilience.”
