Non-government organisation, the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) will be hosting a beach cleanup at the Old Hospital Park Beach in Montego Bay, St James this Saturday (July 3)

This cleanup is being held in collaboration with Coca-Cola Jamaica and Ocean Conservancy as a part of the ‘Circular Seas’ Initiative supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation.

JET aims to attract 60 volunteers in several shifts throughout the day, while observing all coronavirus (COVID-19) safety protocols.

The aim is to remove as much garbage as possible from the coastline, with a focus on plastic bottles.

The Coca-Cola Foundation, together with Coca-Cola Jamaica and its bottling partner Wisynco, launched ‘Circular Seas’, a sustainability project aimed at the marine environment, based on strategic alliances.

The initiative is differentiated by its comprehensive nature and by promoting a circular strategy, which materializes in reducing waste from the natural environment, fostering a culture of recycling, and consolidating an information bank to guide the future.
