
Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, is among five women selected for the 17th annual DVF Awards, which is being presented in Venice, Italy today, September 3.
Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg’s awards recognise women making an impact through leadership, activism and social change.
This year’s honourees also include actress and activist Jane Fonda; Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario; Food4Education founder Wawira Njiru and French activist Gisèle Pelicot.

The ceremony takes place during the Venice Film Festival, with each honouree receiving support for their work through the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation.
Mottley is being recognised alongside women working across political leadership, environmental protection, journalism, education and advocacy for survivors of violence.
