Sagicor’s Sigma Run received a boost in its efforts at reaching its $50 million fundraising target, thanks to a million-dollar donation from National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB).

 The donation was made in response to the Sagicor Foundation’s promise to match all donations made to the cause in the week of February 15-19, dollar-for-dollar.

“Usually, we have one of the largest teams at Sigma every year,” said Nichole Brackett-Walters, group marketing and communications manager at NCB.

‘CHALLENGING TIME FOR EVERYONE’

“However, the restrictions of the pandemic have forced us to re-imagine the way we show our support for worthy causes such as these, while keeping our team members safe and adhering to the government’s COVID-19 restrictions. It’s a challenging time for everyone, especially when it comes to doing fundraising in times like these as we can’t necessarily use the traditional channels we’re used to. It just means that we have to join hands and pool our resources to ensure that we make a difference in our communities and the lives of our customers.”

A grateful Alysia Moulton-White, executive director of the Sagicor Foundation, said: “We’re extremely grateful to National Commercial Bank for this donation of $1 million. This will certainly go a far way towards procuring equipment for our charities at the Annotto Bay Hospital, Port Antonio Hospital and our ‘Get Back on Track’ initiative. It’s always good when we can come together as corporate bodies for the betterment of Jamaica.”

This year, the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run took a virtual format, with an Invitational Run on Sunday, February 21.
