Restaurants of Jamaica, which operates the popular KFC franchise, on the island has opened an outlet in St Ann’s Drax Hall.

This marks its 40th KFC restaurant in Jamaica.

Located just off the St Ann leg of the highway, it is expected to prove a hit with both travellers and the growing population of St Ann, the home of tourism province Ocho Rios.

KFC is the most popular cooked food chain in Jamaica and has evolved while maintaining its dominance.

Restaurants of Jamaica began its operations in 1975 when it opened a KFC at 170 Old Hope Road, Kingston.

Founded by husband and wife team Anthony and Lorna Myers, Restaurants Of Jamaica also runs the Pizza Hut chain.

A family-business success story, the children Mark, Tina and Michelle have upped the ante, going on to make KFC the leading takeaway dining experience in Jamaica.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed challenges and managing director Mark Myers has spoken of supply problems and accessing vital equipment.

KFC has been bedevilled by staff shortages with personnel having to remain at home after contracting the virus.

The Myers family intends to continue opening up new KFC locations and has its eye on real estate spots across Jamaica.

It began a J$3 billion spending round in new restaurants during 2019 with new KFC outlets in Falmouth, Harbour View and May Pen.

It also has the honour of winning a Yum! Brands award for the highest transaction growth for KFC in the region.

Now that’s finger-lickin’ good!

“We have a steadfast belief in Jamaica as an excellent place to do business. We continue to be in growth mode as we expand our business in locations to create more employment opportunities and build deeper ties to the communities we serve,” said managing director Mark Myers back in 2019.
