Scotiabank Jamaica’s continued investment in digital banking has earned international recognition, with the Bank named Best Consumer Digital Bank and Best Mobile Banking App in Global Finance’s 2026 World’s Best Consumer Digital Bank Awards.

The recognition comes as Scotiabank continues to expand what clients can do through Scotia OnLine and the Scotia Caribbean Mobile App, part of a wider focus on making banking simpler, more accessible and responsive to the way clients want to manage their finances.

Today, approximately 98 per cent of Scotiabank Jamaica’s retail transactions are conducted through digital or other non-branch channels, reflecting the growing adoption of these options.

“Digital is fundamentally about making it easier for our clients to do business with us,” said Hughton Leslie, Senior Manager, Digital Banking Channels. “We continue to look across the entire client journey to identify where technology can make banking simpler and more convenient, while maintaining the security and confidence our clients expect.”

More banking, wherever you are

While opening an account once required a visit to a branch, that journey can now begin online. Existing and prospective clients can open eligible accounts remotely, while also using Scotia OnLine and the Scotia Caribbean Mobile App to manage many everyday banking needs.

The range of services available digitally continues to grow. Clients can execute international wire transfers online and apply for unsecured credit, in addition to routine transactions such as paying bills, transferring funds, purchasing foreign exchange at preferred rates and making credit card payments.

“We want our digital channels to give clients meaningful options and greater flexibility,” Leslie said. “Whether you are opening an account, applying for credit or sending funds overseas, our focus is on reducing friction and making the experience as seamless as possible.”

Greater control and security

Scotiabank is also using its digital channels to give clients greater control over the security and management of their finances.

Clients can lock and unlock their debit cards digitally, providing an immediate option if a card is temporarily misplaced or there is concern about its use. They can also initiate credit card disputes digitally when they identify a transaction that requires investigation.

“Trust remains fundamental to banking,” Leslie added. “As we expand what clients can do digitally, we are equally focused on providing tools that help them feel secure, informed and in control.”

Investing for Jamaica’s future

For Scotiabank, the expansion of its digital capabilities is part of a much broader commitment to Jamaica and to continually improving the client experience.

The Bank has served Jamaica for more than 137 years, and its continued investment in technology reflects a focus on evolving alongside the needs of the clients and communities it serves.

“The recognition from Global Finance is important because it validates the work we are doing, but ultimately our success is measured by the experience we deliver to our clients,” Leslie said. “We have been part of Jamaica for generations, and we continue to invest with the future in mind, using technology to make banking easier, safer and more accessible while ensuring our clients can still access the advice and support they need.”

With more services available through Scotia OnLine and the Scotia Caribbean Mobile App, the goal is straightforward: give clients greater choice, greater control and an easier way to bank.
