Spanish Town Police kept their slim hopes of avoiding relegation alive with a 1-0 win over Harbour View in a relegation battle, while Phoenix Chapelton Maroons jumped into a playoff spot, beating Treasure Beach 2-0 in the last set of Jamaica Premier League games.

Carlington Blackwood netted the all-important goal in the 70^th minute as Spanish Town police registered their fourth win from 23 matches and moved to 15 points, but are still at the bottom of the league in 14^th spot.

But more importantly, Spanish Town Police are now just one point behind Harbour View and seven points from safety as Treasure Beach are in that position on 22 points, and are the team Spanish Town and Harbour View are chasing.

Treasure Beach failed to move further away from the relegation teams as they fell 0-2 to Phoenix Chapelton Maroons to be in 12^th place on 22 points.

Meanwhile, Maroons with goals from Sean Leighton in the 53rd and Jason Wright in 90+1 jumped they jumped from eighth to fifth spot on 32 points and into a playoff position.

At the top of the league, Montego Bay United clipped Cavalier SC 1-0 and maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the standings on 49 points. In-form striker Dwight Merrick netted the winning goal in the 54^th minute.

Cavalier’s miserable run continued, losing their four game in their last five matches to be in eighth spot on 29 points and drifting further away from a playoff spot.

Racing United stayed in touch with the leader, clipping Molynes United 1-0 to be in second spot on 42 points. Substitute Dwight Gentles scored the winner in the 85^th minute.

Molynes United are basically out of the running for a top-six playoff spot, languishing in 11^th spot on 23 points. They are closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs following their eighth defeat of the season.

Caribbean champions Mount Pleasant climbed into third spot on 41 points with a 4-0 hammering of Dunbeholden FC, who are 10^th on 26 points. Raheem Edwards (20^th), Daniel Green (27^th), Shaquil Bradford (72^nd) and Alex Marshall (80^th) scored for the rampant Mount Pleasant.

 At Drewsland, home team Waterhouse and Tivoli Gardens battled to a 1-1 draw. Cardel Benbow gave Waterhouse a fourth-minute lead before Anthony Nelson earned a share of the points for Tivoli Gardens, scoring in the 41^st minute.

Waterhouse are seventh on 31 points, with Tivoli two spots and two points down in ninth on 29 points.

On Monday, fourth-placed Portmore, on 39 points, take on sixth-placed Arnett Gardens on 30 points at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
