Principal of Tacky High School in St Mary, Errol Bascoe, has been charged with buggery, following an incident at his home on Thursday, February 29.

According to reports from the Port Maria police about 11 p.m., the complainant visited a friend who was staying at Bascoe’s premises.

Upon Bascoe’s return, he spoke briefly to the complainant before he sexually assaulted him. A report was made to the police, who commenced an investigation.

Bascoe was subsequently arrested and charged. He is schedule to appear before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, March 14.

Bascoe, who is also the People’s National Party (PNP) provisional MP candidate for Western St Mary, tendered his resignation on Friday, March 8, to the party’s president Mark Golding.

The former MP candididate, who dismissed the allegations levelled against him as ‘scurrilous and malicious’ in his letter of resignation, said: “Recognising the potential impact on the party’s reputation and the importance of prioritising its interests, I have chosen to step aside as the candidate for Western St Mary. This decision will also allow me to dedicate my full attention to addressing this matter and clearing my good name.”
