The Guyana Police Force (GPF) arrested a Venezuelan national on Saturday (April 22) for allegedly hiding 21 packets of cocaine in his mouth.

Reports are that Eleo Geveiro, 30 was crossing the Takutu International Bridge, which links Lethem in Guyana to Bonfim in Brazil on Saturday night when he was stopped and searched by joint services officers.

A statement from the GPF said police officers observed that Geveiro’s mouth was stuffed, and he was asked to open his mouth.

“When he did, he spat out 21 small black plastic parcels (all tied). When opened, each of the small parcels contained a whitish substance suspected to be Cocaine,” the statement said.

The suspect was then told of the offense he had committed, cautioned, and subsequently arrested.

According to the GPF, the drugs weighed 11.4 grams.
