“Good Girl Gone Bad” debuts in Florida in November 

Jamaicans at home and in the Diaspora have been entertained by one of the island’s leading comics, Leon “Lemon” Parkins, for around three decades and now the stand-up comedian and actor has broadened his scope.

Come November, in Florida, Parkins will showcase his writing and directing skills in his first play, Good Girl Gone Bad, in association with fellow comic Samuel “Sammy Question” Turner. 

The play is written by Parkins and Turner, with Parkins directing and Turner producing, through his Fun and Laughter Production brand.  

The play will run over the third weekend in November, with Jacksonville, Palm Bay, and Fort Lauderdale in line to be treated to this new production. 

“Good Girl Gone Bad is full of fun and laughter, and I’m sure patrons will really enjoy the play. We’re looking at an entire weekend of fun for residents in Jacksonville, Palm Bay and Fort Lauderdale,” Parkins says. “Beyond the laughter, there are lessons to be learnt in terms of how to deal with your partner in a relationship,” he adds. 

The story centres around a woman who gets tired of her spouse’s lackadaisical attitude, decides that enough was enough, and refocuses her attention on herself.

The cast includes Parkins and a young and talented team consisting of Alwayne Allen, sisters Shanette Nicholson and Latoya Nicholson, and Monique Barrett-Foster.  

Parkins brings a load of experience into Good Girl Gone Bad, having starred in some of Jamaica’s best-known and best-loved plays including More Passa Passa, Bad Mind, Man Fi Get Bun, The Watchman, Crazy Landlord, among others. As a stand-up comic, Parkins has built a huge fan base over the years, both at home in Jamaica and across the Diaspora, and is loved and appreciated both as an actor and a comedian.
