
After losing her home in a fire last Thursday, August 24, national netball player Latanya Wilson has received a $1 million donation from Supreme Ventures Limited, Mayberry Investments and the Jamaica Olympics Association(JOA).
Wilson and her family are among 24 residents who lost their home to the early morning fire on Thursday morning at Rum Lane in downtown Kingston.
Unconfirmed reports are that the houses were firebombed.
Each member of the national netball team who participated in the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, was presented with $1 million from the three entities on Monday, August 28.
National senior netball coach Connie Francis was also given $2 million.
“This unprecedented decision is a testament to the remarkable journey and victories of the Jamaican netball team,” the JOA said in a social media post on Monday.
Wilson is part of the national team that secured a bronze medal at the recently played in the Netball World Cup.
