The World Bank will be launching this Wednesday (June 12) a three-year Jamaica Country Partnership Framework (CPF), which was endorsed by its board of directors last month.

The framework presents the strategic focus of the World Bank Group engagement in Jamaica for 2024 through 2027.

It supports Jamaica’s long-term development plan, government priorities outlined in the Medium-Term Socio-Economic Policy Framework 2021–24, and the 2050 Long-Term Emissions Reduction and Climate Resilient Strategy.

The launch takes place at the AC Hotel by Marriott in New Kingston with several government ministers to attend including Dr Nigel Clarke, Fayval Williams, Floyd Green, senators Matthew Samuda and Dr Dana Morris Dixon as well as Aubyn Hill.

World Bank director for the Caribbean, Lilia Burunciuc and Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi, World Bank regional director (LAC) for human development will also be in attendance.

This new three-year strategy comes at a crucial time when Jamaica is focused on achieving a sustained higher growth rate building on a decade of successful macroeconomic management and fiscal consolidation.

The overarching objective of the strategy is to promote green, resilient, and inclusive development in the context of Jamaica’s continued commitment to debt reduction and fiscal responsibility.

The CPF aims to achieve this by contributing to three high-level objectives:

  • Improved human capital;
  • More and better-quality jobs; and
  • Reduced vulnerability and enhanced resilience to climate shocks.
